GRANUM, AB – Fort Macleod RCMP issued a news release Wednesday (Mar 17) morning, indicating the incident in Granum on Tuesday night has been resolved.

RCMP were called to a home in Granum to assist Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) with the execution of an arrest warrant.

The wanted man was believed to be barricaded in the residence and possibly armed. The RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT), as well LPS and The Blood Tribe Police service were on the scene.

RCMP shut down highway-519 from the west and east heading into Granum due to a standoff at a home in the town. Traffic was re-routed in the area. Neighbours in the area around the suspect residence said they were told to remain in their homes, away from windows. Police said there were sufficient resources in place and would remain to ensure public safety.

An adult woman had exited the home and was arrested but, has since been released.

Members of the ERT team entered the residence and two adult males were taken into custody without incident. The man who was the subject of the arrest warrant was one of those arrested. The other male was found to have an outstanding warrant as well.

Both remain in custody. No weapon located.
