MEDICINE HAT, AB- An Alberta-based charity aimed at supporting the vulnerable is coming to Medicine Hat.

MyCityCare is an organization already serving Lethbridge, Okotoks, Claresholm, Lloydminister, and Taber, and the group is excited to add Medicine Hat to the list.

“We’ve just seen different requests come in over the last couple of months and definitely over Christmas for the types of supports that we offer into the Medicine Hat area at our Taber campus and our MyCityCare group and we are just really excited to do something here and be local and be present,” MyCityCare director Jennifer Tribble said.

Bridge Church will be partnering with MyCityCare to assist with support services and programming. Annual fundraisers include a free toy giveaway at Christmas through their Shop of Wonders campaign, and The Cinderella Project, which works to ensure teens from low-income families can have access to dress or suit to wear at prom. In the summer, MyCityCare also runs a Stuff The Bus program to help families with back-to-school needs.

“As a church, we are supposed to be known for loving on those who are needy who are underprivileged, and so this just gives us the opportunity to just step outside of our walls and our building and literally love on our community,” said David Maneschyn, lead pastor of Bridge Church.

MyCityCare’s first event in the city will take place Saturday, March 27. A street store will be set up outside Bridge Church from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide free food and clothing.

Donations are being accepted. Anyone with donations is asked to bring them to Bridge Church at 350 1 Ave NE.
