$625 COVID support expands to all Albertans self-isolating
LETHBRIDGE, AB – All Albertans are now eligible to receive funding while self-isolating in their own home.
Prior to Monday’s announcement, this was only available to those in the Edmonton and Calgary Health Zones, the province’s two biggest COVID-19 hotspots, and if they were self-isolating in an assigned hotel.
Now, a one-time payment of $625 will be eligible across the province, including those living on and off-reserve and in Metis Settlements.
“Expanding the isolation supports to include people on First Nations and Metis Settlements is the right thing to do. Everyone should have the chance to isolate safely while having the financial support to cover expenses while they recover,” says Rick Wilson, Minister of Indigenous Services.
