Taber police lay assault charges at noisy party

TABER, AB – Police in Taber have laid two assault charges resulting from a noisy party complaint at around midnight on Friday.

Upon arriving at the site of the complaint, Taber Police Service determined two assaults had taken place.

In one of those assaults, a male suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a knife attack.

A male young offender, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and has been charged with assault with a weapon. He is due to appear in Taber court on Jan. 22.

The victim of the knife attack, a 44-year-old male from Taber, was arrested and faces one assault charge and two counts of uttering threats. He is to appear in Taber court on Jan. 26. The male’s name cannot be released as charges have not yet been sworn.

A few hours later at about 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 12, a break and enter and assault occurred.

Javier Eleazer Rivera Campos, 44, of Taber, is facing two charges and will appear in Taber court on Jan. 5.
