Natural gas price down, electricity up for December

MEDICINE HAT, AB – City of Medicine Hat utility customers will pay less for natural gas this month but more for electricity.

The new rates were posted by the city on Tuesday.

The natural gas rate for December has been set at $2.7655, down from $3.1410 in November.

Customers will pay 6.694 cents per kilowatt hour, up from 5.948 cents in November.

The monthly rates are determined based on the average set by other providers in the province.

The natural gas price is in the middle of the $2.8260 set by AltaGas and the $2.7050 set by Direct Energy.

The electricity price falls between the high of 6.801 cents set by Epcor (Edmonton) and the 6.482 cents set by Direct Energy.
