Province confirms 1608 new cases, city reporting another death

EDMONTON, AB- The province is confirming 1,608 new cases of COVID-19 in Alberta, bringing the total number of active cases in the province to 15,692 .

The province also confirmed nine new deaths. In total there have been 533 deaths due to COVID-19 province-wide.

There are 435 hospitalizations and 95 in intensive care. In the south zone there are 20 hospitalizations with five in intensive care.

In Medicine Hat, the province is reporting an additional death, bringing the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 to four. There are 107 active cases and 152 recoveries.

Cypress County has 24 active cases and 92 recoveries.

Newell County has 15 active cases and 94 recoveries.

In Brooks, there are 1223 recovered cases and 12 deaths.

The Municipal District of Taber has 92 active cases , 141 recoveries and four deaths.

The County of Forty Mile has 22 active cases, 83 recoveries and 1 death.

The City of Lethbridge has 192 active cases, 780 recoveries and 7 deaths.

In a tweet the province’s chief medical officer of health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw urged Albertans to reach out to loved ones virtually as the province enters the first full week of restrictions.
