Local youth centres close temporarily due to restrictions

Nov 26, 2020 | 5:08 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Due to new public health restrictions, the Be Youth Centre is closed to youth, but staff will still be at the centre in the late afternoon to early evening.

Executive Director Amanda Sears says it’s not the safest to hold their close contact activities with youth at this time.

The centre will now pivot back to virtual activities at 4 pm.

The first takes place Thurs. Nov. 26 with a hot dog topping activity.

There will be a variety of interactive fun including arts, crafts, and other challenges.

“We’re playing it by ear, we’re hoping it’s just the three weeks but it’s hard to know. As soon as we can have kids back in the centre we would like them back here so we will see what the future holds.”

Sears says the activities will take place via Google Meets. And the schedule can be seen on their Facebook page and www.beyouth.ca.

Meantime, the Redcliff Youth Centre also announced their temporary closure effective Friday, November 27 at 10 pm until further notice.
