School board approves Prairie Rose Public Schools as new name

DUNMORE, AB – Prairie Rose School Division has a new, but similar name.

The school division added the word “public” to its handle this month.

The new branded name will be Prairie Rose Public Schools.

Board Chair Stuart Angle says the change isn’t really new, as they’ve been talking about it for a number of years.

He says trustees went to school councils to ask for input.

And the vast majority were in favor.

Angle says there is very little cost associated with the name change.

“Quite a number of other boards in the province have had public in their names for a long time. And it just came about that maybe since there are so many different types of educational organizations now that we re-emphasize the fact that we are public. We serve all students in any way we can regardless, we take them all.”

Angle adds the division doesn’t use much letterhead anymore, and as they run out, they will phase out the old name.
