COVID-19 update: 991 cases confirmed Sunday

EDMONTON, AB- There 991 new cases of COVID-19 in the province that have been confirmed as of Sunday.

Province-wide there are 9618 active cases in total.

The province also announced six additional deaths for Sunday, bringing the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 to 407 province-wide.

There are 262 Albertans in hospital and 58 in intensive care. The rate of hospitalization over the past 24 hours increased with six in hospital and four more in intensive care.

Regional numbers for Medicine Hat and surrounding areas will be made available on Monday.

In a Tweet this afternoon, the provinces chief medical officer of health confirmed the numbers and noted Albertans are at a critical point when it comes to reducing the spread of COVID-19. She also recommended following the targeted measures if your community resides on the enhanced list.

Yesterday the province shattered its single daily record for case numbers after it confirmed 1026 new cases.
