Roller coaster road smoothed over

Developer pleased to have troublesome road repairs complete

MEDICINE HAT — A road that Mayor Ted Clugston said was the number one story and number one complaint for him on social media, has been fixed.

Box Springs Boulevard North West, the road used by many to go to COSTCO and Princess Auto, has received it’s final layer of asphalt, and new lines markings too. The roller coaster bumps that used to test the suspension of many vehicles have disappeared. And no one is happier than the developer, Albert Stark with the Box Springs Business Park.

“Yes, we’re extremely happy, we’re glad to have that wrapped up and done” says Stark.

He also pointed out that the developer paid for the work, not the city. The Box Springs Business park also paid for the storm and sanitary sewers and sidewalks in the development.

Stark says the section of Box Spring Boulevard from Box Springs Road to the COSTCO gas bar will become the city’s responsibility sometime next year.

The plan calls for the final asphalt layer to be laid down next year from Skinny’s to the Petro Canada, while the section from the COSTCO Gas Bar to Skinny’s is scheduled to be completed by 2028.
