Rattlers won’t compete in 2021 ACAC winter season
MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat College and several other schools in the province will forgo the 2021 ACAC winter season for basketball, volleyball and futsal.
Kevin Shufflebotham, president and CEO of MHC, says in a release from the college responsibility of colleges to establish and maintain a safe environment for students, staff and faculty is the preeminent factor in all considerations and decision-making.
“Institutions are now planning to deliver classes beginning in January 2021 in the same manner as we are in the Fall semester. Classes are being delivered by virtual means and pandemic precautions are enforced for any aspects of our programs that can only happen in person. We have recently agreed that athletic participation at our institutions will follow the same path.”
The decision to participate in future ACAC competition will be evaluated on a semester by semester basis, therefore the possibility exists that soccer, golf, and cross-country running may proceed in the spring.
