Snowfall warnings across extreme south for today

MEDICINE HAT — The Foremost-Cypress Hills region is among several forecast districts in extreme southern Alberta under a snowfall warning this morning.

The warning’s stretch from the mountains eastward into Saskatchewan, including Maple Creek.

General accumulations of 10 centimeters are expected, but locally higher amounts are possible in the Cypress Hills region and along the U.S. border.

Co. of Forty Mile near Aden and Kennedy Coulee
Co. of Forty Mile near Etzikom and Maleb
Co. of Forty Mile near Foremost
Co. of Forty Mile near Orion and Manyberries
Cypress Co. near Cypress Hills Prov. Park and Cressday
Cypress Co. near Onefour and Wild Horse

Snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 15 cm is expected.

Snow that developed near the British Columbia border overnight will spread eastward towards the Cypress Hills throughout the morning. General snowfall accumulations of 10 cm are expected by this evening, however, amounts may locally be higher near the Rockies and Cypress hills.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

A snowfall with 10 to 20 cm of accumulation is expected on Wednesday.

Advancing cold air from the north will combine with an upper disturbance to produce snow along the Cypress Hills on Wednesday. Some areas of the Cypress Hills, especially near north-facing slopes, will likely see snowfall of 10 to 20 cm by the time the snow tapers off on Wednesday evening.
