Shop early to avoid disappointment, says Canada Post

Once you’ve found that perfect gift you want to have it under the tree on Dec. 25, right?

Canada Post is planning for a holiday season like no other, with an increase in online shopping this year adding to the usual surge of parcels as Christmas draws near.

Chief customer and marketing officer Rod Hart says Canada Post is scaling up across the country to safely deliver this holiday season.

“We are adding more people, more vehicles and more processing equipment while maintaining important safety measures,” he says in a video message to Canadians.

The company has hired 4,000 temporary seasonal employees and 1,000 vehicles to help meet demand.

Hart adds they are delivering on weekends where needed, adding parcel pickup locations, extending hours at many post offices and have improved the ability for Canadians to track items.

Even with those measures, Hart says Canadians have a part to play.

“We know how important these items are to you and we want to deliver. We also know there are many retailers of all sizes gearing up for your early shopping. We’re gearing up to help you and to help them have a great ending to a very challenging year. So this holiday season, please shop early. Support your favourite retailers. And most importantly, stay safe.”
