Emergency rail crossing repairs happening today

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The City of Medicine Hat says that 23rd Street NW, east of Box Springs Road, will be temporarily closed from 2-6 p.m. today (Oct. 14) for emergency repairs to replace failed wooden planks at 23rd Street NW rail crossing by Canadian Pacific Rail.

During the road closure, traffic will be detoured onto 10th Avenue NW and Brier Park Road. Local access will be permitted for the gas treatment facility. Motorists can expect delays while driving through the area and are advised to use alternate routes where possible.

The city says the installation and upgrade will improve the driving surface at the crossing location.

Motorists are reminded to obey all posted signs and detours.
