Domestic dispute report leads to police pursuit

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A report of a domestic dispute, led to officers engaging in a police pursuit that ended with a man and woman fleeing on foot at 20 st NE and Police Point Drive Friday evening.

The MHPS said they received a complaint of a domestic dispute between a man and a woman at around 9:30 p.m. Friday.

Officers believed the female was in danger and was unable to exit the vehicle when they found it in the 800-block of 3rd St SE.

According to police, officers attempted to stop the vehicle but it sped away from the scene, travelling on the Maple Avenue bridge towards the Crescent Heights area. The vehicle was driving aggressively and dangerously on to oncoming traffic, and through stop signs and red lights.

Police tried to contain the vehicle. The vehicle eventually collided at the end of 20 ST Ne and Police Point Drive NE.

Police, alongside their canine unit searched Police Point Park and the Ranchlands area but were unable to find the man and woman.

As of Saturday morning, the MHPS said the man and woman involved still have not been found.
