MEDICINE HAT, AB – The brand new Ronald McDonald House in Medicine Hat hosted a virtual tour of the home on Thursday this week.

The home is steps away from the hospital’s main entrance on Fourth Street SW.

It’s the original bungalow that was on the property built in the 1950s.

Along with many renovations to the space, an addition has been added to the back.

It’s a 3-story building and 41-hundred square feet.

Featuring six private suites, common areas, a large kitchen, backyard, and parking.

The local location opened it’s doors and started accepting families in August.

In the Facebook live video, Medicine Hat house general manager Cassi Hider said the families are thankful to have a home away from home.

“So fortunate to be able to have the comforts that they need when they’re going through a stressful time so they are so grateful to have this in the community,” Hider said.

During the Facebook live, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alberta CEO Jason Evanson said orientations for the home for dinner program is going to be starting at the end of October.

And at the beginning of November, volunteers will arrive at the RMH in Medicine Hat for the very first time.

Evanson says Medicine Hat is the fourth house in Alberta along with Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer.

Adding that last year there were about 12-hundred families served by the Ronald McDonald House across Alberta and there is tremendous demand for their services.
