Medicine Hat now at 10 active COVID-19 cases

Medicine Hat now has 10 active cases of COVID-19. In Wednesday’s updated online numbers, the city remains at 82 total cases of COVID-19. In addition to the 10 active cases, there are 70 recovered and there have been two COVID-19 deaths in the city.

There are 143 new cases across the province in Wednesday’s update.

The total number of COVID-19 cases across the province stands at 17,032. There are 1,520 active cases, down 45 from Tuesday, and 15,252 recovered cases, up 186.

There are currently 59 Albertans in hospital, 13 in ICU. There have been 260 deaths, up two from Tuesday. The number of hospitalizations and cases in ICU are up eight and four, respectively, since Tuesday.

The province conducted 12,317 tests in the past 24 hours.

There are now 27 schools in the province where outbreaks have been declared. Alberta Health’s threshold for declaring an outbreak in school is two cases being in a school while infectious within 14 days. Four schools are in “Watch” status – St. Wilfrid Elementary School in Calgary and Austin O’Brien High School, Vimy Ridge Academy and Highlands School in Edmonton.

No local schools are classified as having outbreaks on the provincial website.

The website Support Our Students is tracking instances of cases in schools across the province. The only local school on the list remains Ecole St. John Paul II, which was added in late August.

There are no new cases in the South Zone, which remains at 1,813 total cases. There are 38 active cases and 1,750 recovered. There are currently two COVID-19 cases in hospital in the South Zone, and both are in the ICU, and the zone total remains at 25 deaths.

Cypress County has totaled 31 cases – all recovered.

The County of Forty Mile has 36 total cases. There are 10 active cases and the rest are recovered.

The MD of Taber has 42 total cases — three active cases and the rest recovered.

Special Areas No. 2 has 13 total cases, all of which are recovered.

Brooks has 1,132 total cases —1,117 are recovered and six are active. Brooks has recorded nine deaths.

The County of Newell has a total of 32 cases — 30 recovered and there have been two deaths.

The County of Warner has 62 total cases. There are zero active cases, 61 are recovered cases and there has been one death in the county.

The City of Lethbridge has a total of 169 cases. There are two active cases, 165 recovered and there have been two deaths. Lethbridge County has 46 cases, four active cases and the rest recovered.

The figures on alberta.ca are “up-to-date as of end of day Sept. 22, 2020.”

Saskatchewan reported six new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, none in the South Zones.

Saskatchewan has a total of 1,830 cases, 133 considered active. There are 1,673 recovered cases and there have been 24 COVID-19 deaths in the province.
