No new deaths in province

One new COVID-19 case in Medicine Hat, 171 in province

Medicine Hat has one new case of COVID-19, and a total of four active cases.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the city is now 75. There are now 69 recovered and two deaths.

Across the province, there are 171 new cases in Wednesday’s update.

The total number of COVID-19 cases across the province stands at 16,128. There are 1,495 active cases, up four from Tuesday, and 14,379 recovered cases, up 167.

There are currently 38 Albertans in hospital, six in ICU. There have been 254 deaths.

The province conducted 12,540 tests in the past 24 hours.

There are now nine schools in the province where outbreaks have been declared. Alberta Health’s threshold for declaring an outbreak in school is two cases being in a school while infectious within 14 days.

One of those nine schools, one – St. Wilfrid Elementary School in Calgary – is in the “Watch” classification, which means there are five or more cases.

No local schools are classified as having outbreaks on the provincial website.

The website Support Our Students is tracking instances of cases in schools across the province. The only local school on the list remains Ecole St. John Paul II, which was added in late August.

In the South Zone, there are 1,787 total cases. There are 34 active cases and 1,728 recovered. There are currently no COVID-19 cases in hospital in the South Zone and the zone total remains at 25 deaths.

Cypress County has totaled 31 cases – all recovered.

The County of Forty Mile has 26 total cases, four active cases and the rest recovered.

The MD of Taber has 40 total cases — one active case and the rest recovered.

Special Areas No. 2 has 13 total cases, all of which are recovered.

Brooks has 1,129 total cases —1,118 are recovered and two are active. Brooks has recorded nine deaths.

The County of Newell has a total of 32 cases — 30 recovered and there have been two deaths.

The County of Warner has 62 total cases. There are three active cases, 58 are recovered cases and there has been one death in the county.

The City of Lethbridge has a total of 169 cases. There are eight active cases, 159 recovered and there have been two deaths. Lethbridge County has 43 cases, seven active cases and the rest recovered.

The figures on alberta.ca are “up-to-date as of end of day Sept. 15, 2020.”

Saskatchewan reported 10 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, none in the South Zones, though location is pending on one case.

Saskatchewan has a total of 1,751 cases, 107 considered active. There are 1,620 recovered cases and there have been 24 COVID-19 deaths in the province.
