Woman charged after officer struck with box cutting knife

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A woman is facing charges after striking a city police officer in the face with a box cutting knife early this morning.

According to a Medicine Hat Police Service release, an officer was conducting a property check around 4 a.m. in the 600 block of Bridge Street SE and found a suspicious woman trespassing in the area.

When she was being arrested the woman produced the box cutting knife and struck the officer in the face with it.

The officer sustained a minor injury and did not require medical attention.
