City’s Business Innovation Grant available to help with ShopHERE program
MEDICINE HAT, AB – The city’s Business Innovation Grant program is providing up to $1,500 to help local businesses get set up through the recently announced ShopHERE initiative.
Any business registered for the ShopHERE program is eligible for up to $1,000 to hire a local photographer to take photos of products being offered through the e-commerce website. Those businesses are also eligible for up to $500 to use have a local marketing firm to help guide the photoshoot and provide a promotional strategy for the website.
“Our businesses must be able to expand their businesses online in order to remain competitive in today’s world,” says Mayor Ted Clugston. “We are now able to offer our businesses the support to build an e-commerce website for free and up to $1,500 to create a professional website with local photography and marketing services. We are looking to keep the grant dollars local wherever possible.”
The ShopHERE powered by Google collaboration was announced last month. It’s a partnership by APEX Alberta, Medicine Hat and District Chamber of Commerce and Invest Medicine Hat, whose goal is to get 250 businesses online this year. The program offers businesses and artists the opportunity to build a digital presence and minimize the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic for no cost.
