Intersection to be closed Aug. 5

Work at Kingsway Avenue and Seventh Street SE delayed

Jul 28, 2020 | 2:27 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A planned intersection closure related to replacing aging water and sewer infrastructure on Seventh Street SE has been pushed back by one week.

The intersection of Kingsway Avenue and Seventh Street SE was to be closed on July 29 for about three weeks.

The City of Medicine Hat now says the closure won’t happen until Aug. 5 and is expected to last until Aug. 27, barring adverse weather and unforeseen delays.

Crews will replace deep utility infrastructure and introduce additional isolation zones to improve the functionality of the water distribution system.

For this project, the contractor will occasionally work through the night while area businesses are closed to limit the impact of a water shutdown during operation hours.

More information on the projects is available on the city’s website.

The city reminds people to allow crews space to work safely, including adhering to physical distancing standards of two metres, and asks residents to follow all traffic signs and detours related to the work
