Weddingstar in Dunmore seeing brisk mask sales

DUNMORE, AB – With the growing popularity of masks and mask-wearing over the last few months, Weddingstar in Dunmore says their mask line has been having good sales.

Weddingstar launched the reusable cloth masks in May and they’re trying to expand globally with the line.

CEO Rick Brink says it’s a huge market and sales have been very brisk.

Adding that they’re shipping all over the world like Australia and France.

They’re also working on opening up new markets including Japan and are in talks with Amazon.

Brink says traffic on its website has been busy with online sales.

“There has definitely been a lot of interest. More and more as governments start to push for wearing a mask in public areas where 6-foot distancing isn’t available,” he said.

Locally, Weddingstar masks are also in the Co-op stores and London Drugs and sales have been doing well in the retail stores.

“The sales have been quite steady and increasing over the last couple of months. So it’s difficult to see a spike because of one area or not because there are other different parts across Canada and the U.S where they’re starting to make recommendations to wear masks so it’s been kind of a consistent spike.”

As for staff, Brink says it’s been very busy.

Pre-COVID they were around 110 employees, and right now they have 150 working.

And he says an additional 20 people are working and doing piece-work from home.

“Wearing a mask is just a little piece of helping out, keeping businesses running, keeping people working, and protecting those people who are vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus,” Brink added.

As for shipping, he says they’re getting masks shipped within 2-3 days.

“And we’ve had positive comments about the masks being comfortable and good quality.”

Weddingstar masks feature 100 different designs, accessories, and kids sizes.
