Highway 3 closed near Taber due to crash

Highway 3 closed east of Taber due to two vehicle crash

UPDATE: 2:55 p.m. July 20

RCMP say one person died after the two vehicles collided head-on in the collision.

A 19-year-old female from Nobleford, Alta., driving east was pronounced dead at the scene. The 17-year-old male driving the westbound vehicle was taken to hospital in Calgary via STARS Air Ambulance with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Taber RCMP and a RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate and speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the collision. The name of the deceased will not be released.

TABER — Motorists heading west on Highway 3 should be aware of a serious two-vehicle crash just east of Taber.

5-1-1 Alberta and the MD of Taber Regional Fire Service are reporting the crash on Highway 3 near Range Road 162.

The highway remains closed and motorists are told to expect delays or consider another route.

One person was evacuated to Calgary hospital by STARS air ambulance.

The M.D. of Taber Regional Fire Service was dispatched to the call at 6:47 this morning.
