Local auctions will support HALO

MEDICINE HAT, AB – As HALO keeps flying and saving lives support for the air ambulance service also continues to fly high.

“Southern Alberta is incredible and people really stand behind the things they believe in. So we’re not surprised but we’re absolutely overwhelmed by the outpouring of support,” said CEO Paul Carolan.

More support will come July 16 from the Ritchie Bros., which will donate proceeds from its auction to HALO.

“I think there’s 10 items that are up for sale and all proceeds from those items are coming towards HALO,” said Carolan, adding significant donations from Brooks Farm Centre and Oasis Trailer Manufacturing in Rolling Hills “are sort of leading that 10-item charge.”

Later this month Gateway Auction Services will host an auction in Seven Persons that will also benefit HALO, said Carolan.

Donations and fundraisers have been regular occurrences since it was announced in May that HALO was close to ceasing operations as funding dried up.

Carolan said the organization could probably never say enough thanks for the support.

“HALO’s always been there for the people in our response area when they need us and when we announced that we needed them, they really rallied to the cause.”
