MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat residents and visitors have a chance to see the city from a new lens this summer.

The Sunshine Trolley rolled out this morning for the first time this season.

Executive Director of Tourism Medicine Hat Jace Anderson says capacity will be limited and they are asking passengers to pre-book their ride.

8 benches will be available with 16 people maximum on the trolley at this time.

When not during a pandemic, the trolley holds 33 passengers.

Anderson says it’s a hop-on, hop-off route.

And there were a few passengers for the first ride this morning.

He says the primary route is from the Visitor Information Centre, downtown, and the Esplanade.

“We’ll do the loop through downtown over to Medalta in the historic clay district, and then a scenic route all the way back. We’re also incorporating some hotels and Gas City Campground when we can. There are a number of other things we’ll incorporate from time to time and we’re excited to near the end of the day give folks the opportunity to hop off at their final getting off the trolley at one of the local breweries.”

Anderson reminds residents and visitors that if they plan to hop off the trolley at one of the stops like the Esplanade or Medalta they also need to pre-book their visit at those locations as well.
