Severe thunderstorm watch in place for Brooks, Newell County

BROOKS AB — Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the city of Brooks and Newell County.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop along the foothills near noon, and move eastwards throughout the day. The weather risk is projected to last until later this evening, according to Environment Canada.
As of Sunday morning, no weather alerts are in effect for the City of Medicine Hat or Cypress County, but Environment Canada said the weather watch is expected to expand.
Thunderstorm watches are issued by Environment Canada when conditions are favorable to produce one or more of the following: Large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rains.
