77 new cases in Alberta, 7,801 tests

Active Medicine Hat COVID-19 cases back up to 11

The number of COVID-19 active cases in Medicine Hat is back up to 11.

Medicine Hat’s case count once again stands at 50 total cases, with 38 recovered and one death.

In the province’s Wednesday update, the city had those exact numbers, but Thursday’s saw one active case reclassified out of the city.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the province’s chief medical officer of health, has previously said that sometimes happens when more information about the infected person becomes available.

The South Zone recorded 14 additional cases over the past 24 hours. The total now stands at 1,399 — 1,291 recovered, 96 active and 12 deaths. Two people in the zone are in hospital.

Across Alberta, there are 77 new cases, mostly in the Calgary Zone (30 new cases) and Edmonton Zone (23). There are 592 active cases, an increase of eight, and 7,844 recovered cases, an increase of 70. The province now has 8,596 total cases.

There are 50 Albertans in hospital, nine of which are in ICU. The provincial death toll is at 160.

There were 7,801 tests were completed in the past 24 hours.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw announced July 2 that she will not be providing daily updates this week but that the online numbers will be updated daily.

Numbers will not be updated over the weekend.

Cypress County has 30 total cases — 21 recovered cases and nine active ones.

The County of Forty Mile has two active cases and three recovered.

The MD of Taber remains at 12 total cases, six active and six recovered.

Special Areas No. 2 has no cases on the map. There was previously one recovered case and one death attributed to the region.

The County of Newell is showing one active case and 20 recovered. In Brooks, there remains one active case. There have been 1,119 total cases in the city and 1,109 are recovered. Brooks has recorded nine deaths.

The County of Warner has 42 total cases, 40 active, one recovered and one death.

The City of Lethbridge has a total of 51 cases. Of those, eight are listed as active and 43 recovered. Lethbridge County has 10 cases, six active cases and four recovered.
