Redcliff Library reopens July 2

Jun 30, 2020 | 11:33 AM

REDCLIFF, AB – Readers in Redcliff and area will be able to stop in at the Library after Canada Day this week.

On Thursday, July 2 the Redcliff Library will run regular hours but will be closed on Sundays for at least July and August.

Library Manager Tracy Weinrauch says patrons can expect to see plexiglass shields, hand sanitizer, directional signage, and traffic dividers.

15 people which includes staff, will be allowed at a time while physical distancing.

Computers will open on Wednesday, July 22by appointment only and with only two to start with.

Weinrauch says seating, tables, and toys have also been removed for the time being.

The photocopier, faxing, and laminating services are available but staff will run the machine

“It will be so nice to have people in here again but it does make us a little nervous. We are handling items that people are bringing back from their homes so we do quarantine the items for four days when they come back before they are wiped down and shelved again. So we’re taking all the precautions that we can.”

Families and patrons are encouraged to come in, browse for their items, and be on their way.

Meantime, Weinrauch says the Redcliff Library has been very busy over the last couple of months and they are only down 30 percent in book circulation compared to this time last year.

They also held an online book sale in May.

And are tossing around the idea of holding a physical book sale in the fall with restrictions.

Weinrauch says they were able to keep all the staff on for the entire closure.

And the summer reading program is still going this year, but it will be online.

There is no fee and kids can register to win prizes and badges.

More information on reopening can be found by visiting their website.
