Paused during public health emergency

Environmental reporting to resume in July

Jun 23, 2020 | 11:48 AM

The Alberta government is set to resume environmental reporting that was temporarily halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and resultant public health emergency.

Reporting will resume on July 15, four weeks earlier than planned.

Jason Nixon, minister of environment and parks, said the temporary measure gave industry time to ensure the health and safety of their staff.

“Now that the public health emergency is no longer in effect and Alberta is reopening as part of our phase two relaunch, industry can resume business while keeping communities and employees safe,” he said.

An extension for regulatory reports for emissions reduction achievements and renewable fuel operator compliance is also coming to an end, with reports due June 30.

Ministerial orders from the energy ministry are also being rescinded on July 15, also earlier than anticipated.
