Rain and sewer work

Part of Police Point Trail washed out

Jun 18, 2020 | 2:15 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A portion of the Police Point trail system has collapsed near where city crews are working to upgrade the sewer system for the Parkview neighbourhood.

Heavy rains over the past day combined with the already open excavations near Parkview Close caused the collapse. Barricades have been erected to block the trail.

People can still access about two kilometres of the trail from the east near the Police Point Park Interpretive Centre. Eventually they will meet a dead end and have to turn back.

The city asks people to obey all signage and not to attempt to pass around the washed-out area. Rain has made the slopes and banks slippery and they may unstable.
