Knife-wielding man facing charges after vehicle incident

A morning dispute involving a stolen vehicle and a knife has landed a young man in custody.

Medicine Hat police were called to the 1000 block of Balmoral Street at about 6 a.m. on Thursday. Police were told a 20-year-old man had taken a vehicle without consent and then showed a knife when confronted.

Police located the suspect in the 1100 block of Fifth Street SE. When police approached the man pulled a knife from his pocket. He eventually dropped the knife and was arrested.

The man is charged with assault with a weapon, taking a motor vehicle without consent and uttering threats.
