MEDICINE HAT, AB – Get your appetites ready, Hatters.

The weekly food truck festival has become a summer favourite for Medicine Hat residents in the past couple of years and is finally returning.

It will make its 2020 debut this weekend.

David Bennett, co-owner of Pooty’s Poutine, said the date for the first festival of the year has been a popular question form customers at his truck.

“Tons of people are asking when its going over because they like to grab a little piece of everything when they’re there,” he said.

Six Medicine Hat food trucks will gather in Kin Coulee Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday and offer local foodies a feast for the eyes, nose and mouth.

Cheezy Bizness, Pooty’s Poutine, Sammy’s Curry in a Hurry, Kona Ice, Gypsy Girl Wood Fired Pizza and Fresh Squeezed Lemonade are on the menu for the Father’s Day feast.

Bennett said it’s exciting to get the food truck festivals rolling again and said they should be weekly happenings through the summer.

“You get to try all the great food there from all the other trucks which is my favourite and lots of people get to come out and enjoy it,” he said.

In the past, the festivals have started on Mother’s Day but public health guidelines had organizers leery of starting them in May. When Alberta moved into Stage 2 of its relaunch last week and outdoor gathering limits were increased, Bennett said the time is right.

“We’re allowed up to 100 people for gatherings we should be in the ballpark for there hopefully,” said Bennett.
