A personal challenge

Cypress County native named GM of Alberta Beef Producers

CALGARY – The Alberta Beef Producers has announced a Cypress County native as its new general manager.

Brad Dubeau will be taking over from GM Rich Smith who was in the position for the last 13 years.

Dubeau says while he is coming into the GM role during an uncertain time in general because of a pandemic that hasn’t left the cattle industry unscathed, Alberta ranchers have been tried and tested and will rise to the occasion.

And he says the position offers a personal challenge.

“But at the same time, I’ve never shied away from a challenge,” said Dubeau. “It’s challenging times but working with the other provincial organizations as well as national organizations that represent the beef industry in Alberta and across Canada – we’ll get through this.”

Dubeau grew up west of Medicine Hat and continues to have a grasser operation.
