Possible thunderstorms this afternoon, heat warning continues, Environment Canada says
MEDICINE HAT, AB- Environment Canada says there is a risk of a thunderstorm later this afternoon for Medicine Hat and Cypress County. The thunderstorm risk also extends into the city of Brooks, Lethbridge and Calgary.
Meantime a heat warning remains in effect for Medicine Hat, Cypress County and the city of Brooks. Temperatures are expected to reach 32 degrees in Medicine Hat and dip to a low of 16 degrees overnight. There is a 60 per cent chance of showers.
Environment Canada is advises the following to protect yourself from the heat.
– Consider rescheduling outdoor activities to cooler hours of the day.
– Take frequent breaks from the heat, spending time in cooled indoor spaces where possible.
– Drink plenty of water and other non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverages to stay hydrated.
– Check for your children or pets before you exit your vehicle. Do not leave any person or pet inside a closed vehicle, for any length of time.
