COVID-19 update: 37 new cases, only one active case in Brooks and Medicine Hat

EDMONTON AB,- Provincial health officials announced 37 new cases of COVID-19 today (June 13 ) bringing the total number of active cases to 403. A total of 6830 people in the province have recovered. The province also recorded one additional death.

Hospitalizations, the province says remains low with 44 people in hospital and six in intensive care.

In the South Zone, there are 23 active cases and 1,242 recoveries.

Nine people have died in the region, eight from the city of Brooks and one from Cardston County, according to the province.

There is only one active case remaining in Medicine Hat. The city had 36 confirmed cases of the virus and 35 have recovered so far.

In Brooks, there is also only one active case remaining. A total of 1108 people have recovered.

Cypress County and Newell County have zero active cases remaining. Cypress County had 21 confirmed cases of the virus, and Newell County had 20 cases, all of which have now recovered.

In the city of Lethbridge there are six active cases, and 28 recoveries.

Lethbridge County has two cases of the virus, both of which are still listed as active.

Testing for the virus continues province-wide. In the last 24 hours the province says 6790 tests were completed.
