Two youths found dead, search continues for third after drowning incident on St. Mary River

CARDSTON COUNTY, AB – Raymond/Magrath RCMP are investigating drownings and the search is continuing for a missing youth.

RCMP stated that on June 10, at around 10:30 p.m., officers from the Raymond/Magrath detachment as well as Milk River RCMP responded to a call to assist EMS for a drowning in the area of Spring Coulee on the St. Mary River.

RCMP note that a group of about 10 people had gone swimming and canoeing earlier. At around 7:30 p.m., three female youths encountered some difficulties while trying to leave the water.

One was located and pronounced deceased at the scene. The two others were swept away and not immediately found.

Lethbridge Search and Rescue assisted throughout the evening. At around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, a second female was found and pronounced deceased.

RCMP Air Services, along with Cardston RCMP, are now assisting with search efforts to find the third female youth.
