AHS looking for advisory council volunteers

Jun 8, 2020 | 12:22 PM

EDMONTON – Alberta Health Services is seeking volunteers to join Health Advisory Councils across the province and Provincial Advisory Councils on cancer and addiction mental health.

The Palliser Triangle Health Advisory Council, which represents southeastern Alberta, is one of those recruiting volunteers.

Joining the council gives people the chance to provide a local perspective on local and province-wide health-care services. Terms are either two or three years.

AHS is looking for people who are passionate about health-care services, big-picture thinkers, eager to engage members of their community to learn what healthcare services are working well and where improvements can be made, and interested in participating in dialogue with AHS that will lead to creative solutions to healthcare services across Alberta. There are 15 volunteer members on Health Advisory Council.

Membership on the cancer and addiction and mental health councils is ideally suited to people who have lived experience with cancer or addiction and mental health matters.

All councils meet up to five times per year with AHS zone and provincial leadership.

Anyone interested is asked to fill out a form available at ahs.ca/advisorycouncils.

Call 1-877-275-8830 or email community.engagement@ahs.ca for more information. The deadline for submissions is June 15 and you must be at least 18 years old to sit on a council.
