COVID-19 update: Forty new cases including one in Medicine Hat

EDMONTON AB- Provincial health officials are confirming 40 new cases of the virus today (June 6) bringing the total number of active cases to 336.

A total of 6,656 Albertans diagnosed with the virus have since recovered.

There are no new deaths to report today leaving number of deaths province-wide at 146.

Hospitalizations remain low, according to the province with 44 people in hospital and six in ICU.

In the South Zone there are 18 active cases and 1,219 recoveries.

In Brooks, a community hit hard by COVID-19, there are now only two active cases remaining. A total of 1085 people have recovered.

The city has seen eight confirmed COVID-19 related deaths.

The City of Medicine Hat has one new confirmed case today. There are now three active cases in the city and 40 recoveries.

Elsewhere in the South Zone, Cypress County has five active cases and 13 recoveries. Nearby Newell County has one active case remaining and 14 recoveries.

The city of Lethbridge has three active cases and 27 recoveries. Lethbridge County has one recovered case.

The Municipal District of Taber and the County of Forty Mile each have two cases, all of which have recovered.
