Little League season officially called off

Jun 4, 2020 | 12:54 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The crack of the little league bats won’t be heard around Medicine Hat this summer.

The Medicine Hat Little League Board officially cancelled the 2020 spring season on June 3.

The following was posted on the league’s Facebook page on Thursday morning.

“The decision to cancel was not made lightly. Due to the fact that we are not allowed to play games (as per the guidelines from the Government of Alberta), we feel that it is better to promote an organization like the Medicine Hat Mavericks for skills and drills. The Mavericks have trained staff who are currently running skills camps in the safest way possible, as per the extensive guidelines provided by the Government of Alberta.”

The league will be issuing refunds and asks for patience as the process may take up to three weeks.

The league previously said All-Star Baseball would not happen as team travel is not allowed under public health restrictions.
