Jun 3, 2020 | 2:50 PM

BROOKS, AB – A Black Lives Matter march will take place in Brooks on Sunday afternoon.

The march will start at 1 p.m. at the Freson Bros. Grocery store on Fairview Avenue and will travel down Second Street West to end at city hall.

Once there, speakers will deliver remarks to the assembled crowd at Veteran’s Park and eight minutes of silence will be observed.

Karen Tekabe is one of the organizers of the event and wants to show that there is more love than hate in Brooks and across the country.

“I feel like it’s a human rights issue and I feel like we need to show support even though it’s not happening in Canada as brutally as it is in America,” she said.

The Facebook event for the march notes masks are mandatory and physical distancing rules of two metres are in effect.
