MEDICINE HAT – The City of Medicine Hat will be closing its South Railway recycling depot next to Redi Bottle Depot at the end of July.
In a release on Friday, the city says due to the curbside residential recycling program, the need for four drop-off recycling spots has decreased.
The depots at the Medicine Hat Mall and Shamrock Bottle Depot and the Kipling Street locations will remain.
The city says the collection points have seen a 65 per cent decrease in the amount of materials collected while, since the implementation of curbside recycling, there has been a 30 per cent overall increase in collection of recyclables.
