Fatal accident near Brooks

Medicine Hat, AB–One man is dead and another was seriously injured following a vehicle-train collision near Brooks.

RCMP say emergency crews responded to the collision between a pick up truck and a CP Rail Train around 11:30 this morning.

It happened at the railway crossing of Highway 1A and Range Road 143.

According to police, the truck with two people inside was northbound when it “failed to yield to an oncoming westbound train”.

Crews were able to get the pair out of the tuck and they were rushed to hospital in Brooks via ambulance.

A 50 year old man from Lethbridge died in hospital. The male driver, 60, and also from Lethbridge was flown via Halo Air Ambulance to Calgary with critical life threatening injuries according to police.

The RCMP along with CP Police are investigating the collision.
