COVID-19: 247 new cases of COVID-19, 4480 total in province

EDMONTON AB- The Province of Alberta has announced 247 new cases of COVID-19 detected over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 4480.

Eighty-three people are in hospital with 20 in ICU.

The province says there are 599 confirmed cases in the South Zone. The death count remains the same at two confirmed deaths.

The city of Medicine Hat has 25 cases, unchanged from yesterday. Fourteen cases are active and 11 are recovered.

In Brooks there are 540 cases. 536 are considered active. Two patients are listed as recovered, and the death count remains the same at two, according to the provincial data.

Elsewhere in the province, there are 3104 cases in the Calgary Zone, 479 cases in the Edmonton Zone, 182 cases in the North Zone, and 34 cases in zones yet to be confirmed.

A total of 73 people have died from COVID-19 in the province. Forty-six in the Calgary zone; 14 in the North zone; 10 in the Edmonton zone; two in the South zone; and one in the Central zone.

Testing for COVID-19 continues in the province. In the last 24 hours, 4,407 tests have been completed.

There have been 125,310 people tested for COVID-19 and a total of 131,572 tests performed by the lab so far.
