MEDICINE HAT. AB – The Community Foundation of Southeast Alberta is now accepting grant applications for the spring re-purposing fund.

It’s for charities serving the most vulnerable sectors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Community Engagement Coordinator Niki Gray says applications close May 1st.

And they hope to have a decision by May 6th.

“It is open to registered charities all across southeast Alberta who are working with our vulnerable sectors. So charities who have been directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. And again the ones that are boots on the ground working with our vulnerable populations.”

Gray says groups like mental health organizations, family services, women’s shelter, and those working with seniors are encouraged to apply.

Meantime, Gray says the COVID-19 response fund is going really well and those funds will start rolling out the beginning of June.

The CFSEA’s Stay @ Home Gala is planned for May 2nd.

Money raised from that virtual event will help top-up the local COVID-19 response fund.
