Moped driver struck on Trans-Canada Highway on Wednesday

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A moped driver was taken to hospital on Wednesday evening after being struck by a tractor trailer unit on the Trans-Canada Highway in the Kin Coulee dip.
According to Medicine Hat Police Service, the incident happened at about 9:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes. Investigation found the male was riding the moped without proper lighting and was struck by the tractor trailer.
“The driver of the tractor trailer unit made every effort to avoid hitting the moped, but due to the lack of visible lighting, had limited reaction time, and was unable to completely avoid the collision,” reads a release from MHPS.
The moped driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the collision is still under investigation.
