MEDICINE HAT, AB – Five Medicine Hat businesses got a welcome dose of good news recently.

QinetiQ (pronounced kinetic) Target Systems Canada actually got a double dose when the nominations for the Alberta Business Awards of Distinction were announced last week.

The company is nominated for the Global Growth Award and the Mentorship Award, both of which they won at the Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce Awards in October.

Corrie Dale, vice president, QinetiQ Target Systems, said the nominations are testament to the dedication and power of an amazing team.

“They are dedicated to this growth particularly around the world. When not confined by COVID-19 we have teams that travel to over 40 different countries and are continually working with these customers to be able to deliver targets to our customers and provide the necessary military training that customers are looking for,” said Dale.

The Medicine Hat Mavericks Baseball Club is also nominated for the Mentorship Award.

Other Medicine businesses nominated are Greg’s Drugs (Greg’s Remedy Rx) in the Customer Service category, Being Human Services for Small Business and LimeLitez Dance Academy for Young Entrepreneur.

Presented by the Alberta Chamber of Commerce, the winners were to be honoured at a ceremony in Edmonton on June 19. Instead they will be announced in the near future, though no details are available.

Dale understands there not being a ceremony, but would have enjoyed the chance to celebrate.

“It’s unfortunate to not be able to participate in the ceremony, especially being that there’s so many great Medicine Hat businesses that are going to be in our company there.”
