Milestone birthday definitely worthy of a parade

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Turning 100 years old is special enough but a parade can put the celebration over the top.

Martha Wilson celebrated the century mark today and had about 100 vehicles and even more people to help make the day even more special.

Martha’s children planned to have a celebration indoors with family, relatives and friends. The COVID-19 pandemic made that impossible, so Martha’s son Rod got to work on making the day a memorable one nonetheless, so he got in touch with the COVID-19 Birthday Drive By Facebook group and the parade was set.

“I don’t know if she’ll be able to take it all in,” Rod said before the parade. “She’s got a great memory but her eyesight isn’t as good as it could be. But she’ll hear the honking and the kids yelling and clapping so she’ll be quite surprised. And the words will come ‘well you didn’t have to do that for me.’”
