Worker at Brooks No Frills tests positive for presumptive case of COVID-19

BROOKS AB- Loblaws is confirming that an employee at the No Frills in Brooks has tested positive for a presumptive case of COVID-19.

In a statement, Loblaws said the store was closed overnight for a thorough cleaning but has since reopened.

”One of our team members from Terashita’s No Frills in Brooks, AB has recently tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. We are reaching out to the local public health team and have taken a number of steps to minimize risk, including increased sanitization protocols and enforcing social distancing practices in the store. The store was closed overnight for a thorough cleaning and has since reopened, ” Catherine Thomas, senior director, external communications for Loblaws said.

Staff members who worked closely with this individual are now at home in self-isolation, monitoring for any symptoms, according to Loblaws.

Cases of COVID-19 in Brooks have also been confirmed at the JBS Canada meat plant, the Mcdonald’s and KFC.

As of the latest update provided Monday afternoon, the city has a total of 115 confirmed cases of the virus.
