MEDICINE HAT, AB – The City of Medicine Hat is running a pair of contests to mark the 50th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22.

The Earth Day Photo Contest encourages people to post a video on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter that shows how you are reducing your impact on the environment. Use the hashtag #MedHatEarthDay2020 to be entered to win one of five prizes. The top prize is a Google Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd Generation valued at $330.

Suggestions from the city include conserving water and energy, picking up litter, planting trees or a garden, reducing waste, or composting. The city has been posting energy conservation ideas on its Facebook page over the past week. More ideas can be found at earthday.ca.

You can be entered in the second contest simply by signing up for eBilling before April 22.

You could win a $500 grand prize gift card courtesy of Customer Service or one of 10 $50 gift cards courtesy of Hat Smart.

The gift cards can be used towards utility bills or other city services including Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre, Tixx.ca (online), Family Leisure Centre, Crestwood Recreation Centre, Parks and Recreation Office, Gas City Campground (in season), Veiner Centre and City Hall.
