MEDICINE HAT, AB -With the spring weather upon us, we can still enjoy the outdoors but need to be sensible about it during COVID-19 protocols.

That’s what the Park Interpreter at Medicine Hat’s Nature Centre is saying.

Marty Drut says while parks are open, physical distancing still needs to be practiced.

That means being at least 2 meters apart from each other.

He says the Nature Centre at Police Point Park remains closed, but there are several ways the public can still interact.

And park maps will be available outside the office.

“We’ll answer the phone, we’ll try to deal with questions or problems that people are having. We get a lot of calls about why is the woodpecker banging on my siding or once the baby birds and baby animals start appearing, people are going to want to know what to do with them. And so we’d like to be able to handle those calls and not everyone has access to online.”

The Nature Centre will be posting to their website and Facebook page with online activities for families and residents.

The Nature Centre’s phone number is 403-529-6225 or email mhip@natureline.info.

Drut encourages park-goers to give feedback on their remote programming as well.

Police Point Park washrooms are also closed at this time.

And also during this time, the two original men’s and women’s main washrooms are being renovated.
